Restaurant Review – El Trompo

Man, I wanted the Eagles to win that game. I’m still bitter about how the Bengals lost to those stupid Chiefs in the AFC Championship. Oh well, I’d still take Burrow over anyone in the league. Let’s give him what he wants and make sure he spends his entire career as a Bengal! The Bengals will always be a Super Bowl Contender with him at the helm.

I digress. Mexican isn’t always my favorite food, but I love chips and cheese, so there’s that. A good loan officer took me to lunch last week and suggested going to El Trompo, off Union Centre Boulevard. I had been there once before, but it had been a while, and I didn’t remember my experience. Other good news was that Elizabeth, the outstanding loan officer from Guaranteed Rate, speaks Spanish, so I was in good company! She educated me on the menu, and I will share with you some things you probably don’t want to know, at least if you have my weak mentality regarding what specific foods are—ever heard of rocky mountain oysters? Look it up.

I’m a huge fan of pineapple, and yes, I’m the guy that puts it all over the pizza. I found a dish with chicken, pineapple, and cheese. Done; sign me up! I don’t remember the dish’s name, but it was fantastic. The service there was also excellent. The chips were solid. Salsa was even better. And it’s different from the other Mexican restaurants we have in our area. Not that I’d be a good judge of Mexican Food, but maybe a little more authentic? And the atmosphere is great too.

I give it an 8.7. Maybe if I had the fried ice cream, I’d have it over the 9 spot but we’ll see how next time goes.

Respectfully,
